Read letter from the Tadcaster Rural District Council dated 25th April l9l8 asking the Parish Council if they would be willing to form
a Committee to deal with National Kitchens throughout the district. Moved by Councillor Needham, seconded by Councillor Lumb that the Council if of the opinion that there is no necessity for National Kitchens in this district + that the Clerk inform the District Council.

BUS SERVICES The Clerk submitted a letter from the Regional Commissioner attaching schedule of results of checks taken on the 5.40 pm bus from l,eeds, in view of which the Commissioner was not prepared to cut out the Foundry Lane "set-down". Councillor Harrison stated he knew of cases since the check where passengers had been left at Lupton Avenue, and the Clerk was instructed to send full details to the Comnrissioner. The Clerk was also instructed to write to the West Yorkshire Road Car Company on the following matters:
Actions of the conductress on the 9.50 am bus from Aberford refusing to come up to Scholes this morning.
Availability of workers return tickets on Wednesdays before 3.l0pm bus from Leeds to shop workers and also on other days for part-time workers.

MOLES AND RABBITS The clerk reported that he had seen the pests officer of the war Agricultural committee who had informed him that orders were being served on the owners concerned to destroy the moles and rabbits which had been subject of complaint at both Barwick and Scholes.

SCHOLES PLAYING FIELD Councillor Kent produced a plan showing a proposed layout for the field and it was decided to appoint a sub-committee of the Chairman and Scholes members to study this plan and report back at the next meeting.
BARWICK SEWAGE WORKS Tadcaster Rural District council (TRDC) had admitted a slight overload on the sewage works and councillor Finney proposed and it was RESOLVED that TRDC be asked to give no more planning approvals for residential development until the proposed enlargement of the sewage work had been actually carried out.
BARWICK TELEPHONE NUMBERS The General Post Office (GPO) had given advance notification of the proposal to change Barwick telephone numbers in the autumn 1969 and the Skyrack Newspaper was asked to publish this item.
CAR PARKING Tadcaster Accident Prevention Committee had asked the Parish Council to assist in the finding of a suitable car parking site in Barwick but the clerk was to inform them that the position was still the same as in 1964 - no land is available for this purpose.

BARWICK HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY Mr Horner, Mr Wormald and Mr Sutcliffe, officials of the Society being present it was decided to take this item before the Financial Statement.
The proposed planting of flower and shrubs to beautiful the village and the possibility of obtaining public support and financial help was discussed. It was agreed that a scheme would be drawn up by the Society and Councillor Pullan would try and supply a large-scale plan of the village street between the Maypole and the New Inn.
SCHOLES PLAYING FIELD The County Council had reported that a price could not be agreed for the purchase of the Playing field and reference to the Land Tribunal would probably be necessary. There was nothing the Parish Council could do at the moment towards the raising of a loan.
