The maypole waits to be raised

The maypole has been repaired, and the new lower section replaced. It is painted and awaits the raising ceremony. The maypole is about 90 feet (28 metres) long and will take 100 or so men to lift it and carry it to the centre of the village nearly 100 yards away.
